An enjoyable holiday season includes effective oral health care to ensure tooth hazards and dental damage do not arise. If you are not careful, your teeth and gums can easily be damaged due to the numerous sweets & snacks that are aplenty this autumn season.

If you find yourself guzzling down too many sweets this holiday season, visit your dentist for routine check-ups and oral examinations. However, it may be too late to protect your teeth if you continue to allow harmful acids to chew through your tooth enamel. Any snacking that you do should be followed by oral health care treatments to clean your teeth by rinsing away any harmful acids or plaque buildup in your mouth. However, toothpaste can be too abrasive on your teeth immediately after meals. Instead, try an alternative oral health treatment including chewing sugarless gum to stimulate saliva flow, or try using mouthwash.

Dental damage can occur in a variety of ways from the foods you eat. One oral accident and injury that can occur involves breaking or cracking your teeth when biting down into hard foods. With numerous temptations this holiday season, including candy apples and corn on the cob, always exercise caution before biting into any foods.
